Hopefully another quiet night.
Last night on the overnight, Ricky pulled me off the phones and has me watching the zoo again. He's busy setting up his desk on the otherside of the office. So far the night's been mostly folks complaining about things they can't control. We have to move our seats, we'll have to share desks, I'm not going to be sitting by the back wall. Ugh, I don't care people, get over it. Got my email saying I'm offically on the Mentoring Team. Which makes me a part of the Training Dept in a way. Kinda nice. Plus the extra experience Ricky and Michelle have been giving me this week has me ready to go for when I get in on Wednesday to try and get Maria to look to me as a Lead. I'll have to work weekends, but since there is usually only one Supervisor staffed then, and since I've got a good rep with a number of Supervisors I can probably get myself roaming then too. | | Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 | | 6:08 am |
More work crazy-ness First off, my Supervisor called out again. Ricky was ready this time, so he came in at 10:30pm. However, he put in an excemption for me to get off the phones after lunch to help him out. I'm not sure why, its so quiet he shouldn't need help, but then he's not used to doing overnights during the week and I guess he wanted someone used to it on hand who knows what they are doing. Either way, means I get to assist, claim to assist, and get off the phones for the last part of the shift.
Second, one girl up here, April, keeps trying to push Kay Kay's buttons. Kay Kay had been to the hospital recently and under some stress. Despite asking April to stop, April keep going, kept pushing, and Kay Kay snapped at a few people until what's going to be an HR issue occured. I don't know how its going to go down, but I expect a few folks to get into some serious trouble. | | 12:18 am |
Had my Mentoring interview.
It went very well. Actually spent over an hour in it just talking about experiences me and the interviewer had. Found out most of the Mentors were now on the Help Desk and no longer availble for Mentoring. So they need more folks for Mentoring now. By the end of the interview the nice lady said, "From how this interview went I can safely say welcome to the team.", and then shook my hand. So I believe its now a given that I'll be a Mentor. Which will be a great step towards the next time Help Desk has positions open. | | Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 | | 4:44 am |
Hoping my sister gets to see this...
...before she heads off to work. So my Supervisor called in saying she would be late. To expect her at 1am. The Sup on duty was cool with staying until then, since he handles the 4:30pm to 1am shift anyway. However, she called back and said that she would not be coming in at all. Which is a problem as there is no other sup to cover if the overnight sup can't come in for some reason. Our Sup on duty, Ricky, attempted to tough it out but by 2:30am gave up. Coming by my desk he gave me his username and password and informed me that he was putting me in charge and going home. Since he does need to go home, sleep and be ready for work tomorrow at 4:30pm. I can understand this, going home at 7am means fighting traffic, getting home much later than he'd like, have to go to bed first thing, get less then 8 hours sleep, get ready for work again, and fight the pre-rush hour home traffic back to work. Plus he is salary, so he's not going to get any overtime for it. So here I am, at the Supervisor's desk, in charge of the Night Shift until someone arrives to let me off duty. I worry that Ricky might get into trouble over this, and I hope that won't be the case as I see this as a great opportunity for me. I can say, "When the Supervisor had to leave, I was the one tapped to be put in charge." Just think how that's going to sound on my next interview. Needless to say, I feel the need to crow about it. | | Friday, May 25th, 2007 | | 6:34 am |

Suckalot So Saturday my Dad asks me if I've got any plans. I was thinking about going to the Mortals game, or being fast asleep. So I inquired why he was asking. Seems they had tickets to go see Camelot with Michael York in the leading roll. You might know him from Logan's Run and the Austin Powers movies. He described the play as "Like Spamalot, but not funny." I thought he meant the play would be serious in nature. I didn't realize that he was both trying to warn me, and being completely serious in his description. So I went with the family.
4 out of 4 Anderson's agree, it was bad. Arthur was played up as some kind of Buffoon who couldn't think on his own. It was like the whole tragic story was being twisted into a comedy of errors. I'm just glad my folks didn't pay for the tickets. If you are in the Orlando area and planning on seeing this...I'm so so sorry. | | Friday, May 18th, 2007 | | 12:18 am |
So I made Sammy a Camarilla Wiki page I dunno, I was bored at work one night and decided to get one put up. Its on the empty side at the moment, but I've been adding links to other characters that Sammy knows. Problem is, I don't know who all out there has pages too. So if you've got one, and Sammy knows you, feel free to add a link to the people Sammy knows section. Also, feel free to add some rumors too. Its rather empty and lonely right now. I think I might add a quotes section, but probably call it ramblings instead.
Oh, link: http://cam-wiki.org/index.php/Samuel_%22Sammy%22_Templeton
I've also noticed some folks have made a playlist for thier characters as well. Usually when I make a character, I have a song in mind. Sammy was an exception to this, but I've found a few songs that fit. Dare to be Stupid by Wierd Al is at the top of the list. Common People by William Shatner for the Carthian outlook, and Manipulated Living from Donnie Darko Soundtrack as the hunting around Pine Hills theme. Not a whole lot so far, just hard finding songs that fit him well. | | Sunday, April 22nd, 2007 | | 11:49 pm |
The weekend report So spent friday mostly asleep. The wonderful week of only getting 5ish hours of sleep a day caught up with me at the end. But it did mean being up in time to go to some big garage sale event that my parents like to go visit. Got a few short sleeve button up shirts for work with a bit of a hawian theme to them. I may have to dress up, but I still plan to hurt people's eyes.
So after that, it was off to the game of the month. Mage...I need to get back into the swing of things. Bob needs some goals, something for him to do and him to work on rather than react to things. Just need to figure out what. I'm also completely useless to the cabal right now. Of course, I want to keep one foot in the mortal world. Kinda want to be the Xander, which kinda defeats the whole completely useless complaint.
Vampire was better though. Didn't do much as Sammy but started getting hooks into the fellow Carthians and even have a project to work on. Just need to email Matt to get a few balls rolling. I also need more Allies. Also managed to make the Invictus laugh just by walking into court. Always a good thing.
However, the most humorous thing to happen occured after game was over. Selena and her friend whose name I can't remember right now had decided to stay over. I had bed and couch space in the room, so offered it to them. Of course, I'd been up since 4am so I crashed earlier than they did and went to the room to sleep. They can bang on the door when they want in, no problems. So a little after 4 there is a knock at the door. They are ready to come in, so I go to the door and ask Selena to give me a few seconds before coming in. This is because I was just in my boxers and didn't want to embarass her. Not that she'd seen anything if she'd just come on in, but still, wanted time to hop back into bed.
Well Selena thought that she'd interrupted me getting lucky, which I can assure you wasn't about to happen in anyway shape or form. But she thought I had and was turning a few different shades of red outside the door trying to figure out if she was going to need to drive home, get Mike to come out to get her, whatever. Meanwhile, I couldn't figure out why she wasn't coming in already. I was dead tired, wanted them in, lights out, and falling asleep. After calling out a few times and not getting a response I asked "Selena are you okay?" I had to finally tell her to just come on inside. Seriously, I don't understand how she could have got that in her head even after she explained her thought process to me. | | Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 | | 2:48 pm |
Need some suggestions...
So, I'm trying to find an energy drink that actually tastes good and I can stomach. Something that tastes different from carbonated vomit. Anyone have any suggestions? | | Thursday, April 12th, 2007 | | 11:24 pm |
So the water is out at work. Of course, this means that the bathrooms don't work. So the folks who run the building have supplied port-a-potties outside two of the building's entrances until such a time that the water is fixed. So one of the folks at work is all in a huff, "I can't believe they expect us to go outside in the middile of the night to use the bathroom." So I asked the logical question, "The water's out, so the bathrooms are unusable. Where are you expecting to go?" They don't have a good answer to that question. | | Monday, April 9th, 2007 | | 1:22 am |
Fun time over the weekend. It was nice to see people again. Getting caught up, and finding out once more I've got paperwork to do. Bleh. Oh well, a few emails...once I figure out email addresses I need. And get my email address working again. I've got a few of the freebie accounts but I figure I need to get an account account setup. Need to get Sammy on the VSS. Might do that tonight when it gets slow enough. Tonight's a good night to try that after the lunch break is over. Over the next few games I just need to sit back and get a feel for the landscape again.
I also came to the realization that I'm never going to be a combat god. Nor will I have a character who can survive combat. There's just way too many combinations, and cheese stuff that will let people slaughter stuff. Best way to survive then, is to be too useful to kill. Best way to do that, buy the thing I know nobody else because they view disciplines as the only route to power. So its time, atleast for now, to go back to my origonal plan I had with Sammy. Buy the heck out of Allies. I may suck for the supernatural stuff, the mumbo jumbo, and proxies with the lack of being able to have a gazillion armor levels and able to due a gazillion agg or be a grapple monkey. But I'm going to make the city dance to my fingertips.
Other news, turns out due to rules changes, Bob's got 99 xp to spend. So I'll be buffing him up a bit for next game. Still not going to be a Master of anything though. Can't be a Master when your Gnosis is only a 2, and I'm not buying it up anytime soon. I like having a 1 pull for Paradox to start with. Makes it so easy to bring it down to a chance draw. But its okay, Bob doesn't need to be a Master. He's got one foot in the mortal world, and the higher level powers tend to draw you away from that world. I need him to maintain his normality. Which I think is what will keep him alive. Powerful mages need someone who can be normal, and while yeah, Sleepwalkers can be good for that, I figure a mage is better to have around. | | Friday, April 6th, 2007 | | 12:38 am |
To those of you going to Friday's game... I'm giving you fair warning, don't ask Sammy where he has been. This is your first, last, and only warning. Ignore it at your own peril.
In the meantime, I'm at work and dead tired in the hope that when I get home, I'll go to sleep and stay asleep. I found out that even having the room dark I'll still wake up after four hours. I think this is due to when I had nightowl hours I tended to wake up around noon. Soooo, when I get home from work, and go to bed, noon rolls around and ding, I wake up. We'll see what happens.
Only problem, I'm excited to go back to game. So that might keep me from being able to fall asleep easily. I've been plotting out Sammy reactions to things I've heard. Not that I've heard much. Current Mood: tired | | Saturday, March 31st, 2007 | | 2:15 am |
Well....crud. My not so cunning plan failed, both in not getting myself to sleep earlier on, and then falling asleep right before the game. Sometimes I wish I was younger, back when I could go almost a whole weekend without sleeping. To the folks at the game who were expecting me, I am sorry, and Steve if you see this, and you aren't busy Saturday, drop me a line on here. I'd like to stop by. | | Thursday, March 29th, 2007 | | 10:48 pm |
So need a concept...
Concept for a vampire character. Think think think. Man, I'm drawing a blank here. Nothing's coming to mind and I've got a game I want to go to tomorrow. Of course, there is the chance I might not go on the account that right around 6pm I want to pass out. So...my not so cunning plan is to get out of the house before then. Which would mean having a character ready by then. Bleh. Oh well, atleast as problems go, its as minor as they can possibly come. Current Mood: geeky | | Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 | | 4:14 am |
Gentlemen behold....POST! So, its a post. Don't really have a lot to say just yet, other than I hope to see quite a few folks soon. Maybe next friday-ish. Unless something is going on this friday.
Saw Michael and Selena over the weekend, nice to see they are both doing well. Selena attempted to drive me insane with some music, and I countered with the glory that is Max Raabe. If you haven't had the joy of listening to his music, I suggest you go do so now. Wished I could have stayed longer, but the current work schedule means I have to sleep at some point when everyone else is up.
Work: The graveyard shift. Slow, dull, boring, having to find things to kill the time as it inches across. And it means trying to sleep during the day. My body just refuses to adjust properly. But it'll be okay, its much better than a shift that's back to back work. I'm working for comcast these days, the airport job got yanked out from under me and up until now I haven't been able to get solidly back on my feet. The bad news is I screwed up on the insurance plans and now I have to wait until the fall before I can sign up again. Not fun.
Still, I like my job. I'm actually doing something I know about, most of the time I can actually help people rather than just throw a tech out there and hope it gets resolved. Still have to resort to that at times, but until Comcast issues out magic wands like folks who call in seem to think we have, not much else I can do at times. Current Mood: awake | | Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 | | 9:01 pm |
"I've been stranded at the airport since Saturday."
If you're going to try and pull a con job on me bitch, put some more effort into it. I've been here since Saturday too, and I haven't seen you here the last five days. You also look like a well rested, and well groomed person. Not someone who has had trouble sleeping, and no access to a shower. So I can tell, you're just trying to con me out of a free ticket. Well sorry, you aren't the airport's problem, or the problem of the airline you flew in it. Your problem is yours, and its going to be upto you to solve it. And you're just now coming to us with this problem? If I was stuck at the airport, I'd be working at getting unstuck at day one. But hey, I'll play along and let you slowly learn that you're not getting anything from me. How about you call your friends or family and have them wire you the money? Each time I've had a stranded person approach me, they never seem to have any friends or family. Or gosh, they just don't have any money for a phone call. Well, go try the ATM, or purchase a phone card. Oh no, the have no money at all. Really? None at all? That's funny, you don't look like you've been starving the last five days, and if you could have afforded food in that time, you could have made a phone call. Or, how about a collect call? At that point, they are starting to suspect they aren't getting a free ticket. But they'll still profess they are all alone in the world with no one to help them. Time to lower the hammer. "Well, we can direct you to one of the nearby shelters. I'm sure they can help you get a job long enough for you to earn some money to get back home." And without fail, the person just walks away. So it wasn't a great day a work. But then, its still hands down better than my last two jobs. Sometimes the folks get tiresome, but its okay. Did have two folks get upset with me. Its just, at the airport, there are ways things are done, and folks trying to work around them get frustrated. Yes, I know you have kids out at the gate waiting for you to pick them up. You'll still need to go get a gate pass. Yes, you will need to wait through the security line, yes its a 45 minute wait at this time of day. Gosh, I'm sorry security won't let you cut ahead to the front. You should have shown up earlier if your kids were so important to you. Or the lady asking for a wheelchair. They are located outside the airport, just go back to the ticket counter and go right outside. That's where the skycabs wait for arriving folks so they can help them into wheelchairs. No, the airport doesn't handle the wheelchairs, each airline does it indiviually, so you'll need to check with the one you're flying on. I'm sure you'd like someone to bring it over to you, however, there are more people in need of an escort than there are escorts, so you'll have to wait your turn, could take upto an hour. Ah, so now you're going to bitch at me about it. And you wonder why we're short on escorts? I mean, who looks forward to pushing around crabby old people all day long? But that's about the worst of it. And its hardly that bad. For the most part its a day filed of thank yous. Not really something I'm used to in a job. I plan to stick around for a good while. | | Thursday, February 23rd, 2006 | | 9:04 pm |
Some good news...
I am now mostly well, and just have the occasional clearing out of the lungs. You know, the kind you get in the last days of a sickness. Yay for Zicam. Seriously folks, if you feel yourself getting sick, go get the swabs and stick'em up your nose. So Sunday, so tired from Saturday game I ignored Cam stuff. Mon, Tues, Weds, so sick I ignored Cam stuff, with the exception of approvals. Today, Cam stuff. Tomorrow, probably the VSS. Also getting ready for Megacon. And speaking of game, it seems highly unlikely I'll be missing any games. Its possible, but I should only have to do the 11pm shift two or three times every other month. So it narrows the odds down. So normally I'll be spending one month coming early, next month coming a bit late. | | Monday, February 20th, 2006 | | 7:54 pm |
The problem with working at the Airport...
...is that you end up being in ground zero to catch something. Folks constantly coming and going, and some of them are sick. So right now I'm trying to fight off a fever. I also know last night's dream was interesting, and about something rather vivid at the time. Something about being at work and lost. Work was not fun as I couldn't seem to remember anything about the place. Stuff I knew last week I just couldn't seem to recall. Plus I was made to sit in the corner, away from everyone else in the booth. Which I completely understand, they don't want to get sick. | | Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 | | 11:44 pm |
Update of sorts
So everyone knows, I finally found a job. I'll be working at the Orlando International Airport. My job is to work at the Information desk, and give out information to folks asking questions. Its good pay, has room for advancement, and is pretty easy. The big problem is that one of the shifts means I'll be late at game, about 9:30ish. The other shift means getting there after 11pm. So...we'll see what happens. | | Friday, January 13th, 2006 | | 7:27 pm |
Fired.
So, I just found out I no longer have a job. Luckily I have something lined up with my sister, but its not till February. I'll have to scrimp by till then. At least on Monday I can go straight down and apply |
